Now pass the tip of this flame over your track pieces in a smooth steady continuous motion. Your flame will be aprox 5" in length and should look mostly yellow/orange near the torch tip. Now, take your torch and light it turning up the flame to introduce oxygen. With a single edge razor blade trim the masking tape to fit just over your rails. Next step is masking your rails using blue painters tape. ![]() Start by washing the track in hot dishwater and allow to dry ( do not touch the surface to be coated after washing). ![]() You need a small propane Torch and you will Flame the track (very carefully obviously) There are Industrial Chemicals that help in this process but these chemicals are so dangerous nobody will even name them.Īfter searching around I found a site that had a trick for coating Polyethylene that allows for a better bond.a simple trick really and the best part was.IT WORKS!!!! Reason.Scalextric sport track is a Polyethylene Plastic and this type of plastic is one of the absolute worst to try and coat. Ive begun painting My Track and in the process found some problems with adhesion in the beginning.After sanding lightly using plastic prep etc there simply was no bite. ![]()
